Learning to See (EN)

Learning to See is the standard workbook for Value Stream Mapping: the method that teaches you to see where value is created in your production process and where it is not.

The workbook was first published by the Lean Global Network and has since served as the foundation for how Lean practitioners map and improve processes.

Identifying Issues in the Flow
You’ll learn to understand your current process as an interplay of material flow and information flow, captured in a Current State Map. This is fundamentally different from standard process maps: you don’t see isolated bottlenecks, but rather the underlying systemic causes.

Designing a Better Future State
You design improvements by linking those two flows through flow, pull, and leveling in a Future State Map. Waste arises from the mismatch between the two flows; the method teaches you exactly how to identify and address that mismatch.

Making Implementation Manageable
You will learn how to steer the implementation of the Future State Map through focused implementation processes, ensuring that improvements are actually implemented.
